UCC a green university

UCC has made it into the top ten of green universities in the world, the only Irish university to do so.

The educational, research and operational activities of 912 institutions across 84 countries were examined by the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking and UCC was ranked ninth best in the world for sustainability.

Prof. John O’Halloran, Interim President of UCC, said: “Over a decade ago we embarked on a course to inspire and educate our students and our community towards sustainability. We are proud to be Ireland’s greenest university and this ranking is due to the hard work of students and staff.”

The announcement was made this week in Indonesia. Universidad de Oviedo came first and University of Oxford came second.
