Pauline puts hand up for award

One Blackrock woman has proved that volunteering is alive and well in Cork!

Pauline Matthews has been named as a winner at the Volunteers Ireland Awards.

Nominated by Age Action in the Social Inclusion and Community Support category, Pauline is a volunteer on the Digital Literacy Programme. Working with over 55 year olds, Pauline provides knowledge, support and motivation on how to navigate the digital world.

The Volunteer Ireland Awards, of which President Michael D Higgins is a patron, are the major annual initiative to celebrate volunteers in Ireland. This year there were over 800 nominations.

Pauline said: “I am so thrilled to have been chosen as a winner – it is a huge honour. I love working with Age Action and that is a joy in itself. To have been given this award has just astounded me!”

Pauline also volunteers with the Cork Folklore Project and Cork International Choral Festival.
