Drowning victim to be laid to rest

Private funeral arrangements have been made for Ballincollig man Bernard Geasley who drowned on Sunday while attempting to help his brother.

The incident happened at Ballincollig Regional Park at approximately 8pm when Mr Geasley, 38, entered the water to aid his brother who had got into difficulty. The alarm was raised when Mr Geasley failed to resurface, and emergency services were called to the scene where a search was carried out.

Mr Geasley’s body was discovered by Mallow Search and Rescue in the early hours of Monday morning.

Mr Geasley was the son of Joe and Phil and brother to Declan, Martin, Glen and Linda. Due to current government guidelines, Mr Geasley’s funeral will take place privately. Any members of the public who wish to leave condolences may do so via rip.ie.
