Lucy and Pippa wearing the bolt sweater, €100.

A little bit of luxury goes a long way

Now you know I love a little bit of luxury, who doesn’t I hear you say, but what makes it even better is when said luxury is also affordable. One of the things I’ve invested in in recent years is one or two cashmere pieces. Yes, it can ultimately be a bit pricier than a regular knit but it’s so beautifully soft and really with love and care, they are pieces that you will have in your wardrobe for many years to come.

So it goes without saying that my interest was piqued when I heard two of Ireland’s leading names in fashion, Lucy Nagle and Pippa O’Connor Ormond, were collaborating on an exciting new collection. It makes perfect sense of course when you think about it, combining Lucy Nagle’s everyday luxe with Pippa’s signature style.

The Lucy X Pippa collection is a match made in fashion heaven featuring 100 per cent merino wool sweaters, loungewear and cashmere blend t-shirt tops. The price point ranges from €50-110 which is affordable, especially when you consider the range is a casual and cosy daywear that you would be guaranteed to get the wear out of come autumn and all through winter. The collection was released yesterday, 23 September, and can be found exclusively at lucynagle.com.

Lucy says: “I really wanted to ensure the price point was accessible without affecting quality. All the sweaters and loungewear are 100 per cent merino wool and the t-shirt tops are a cashmere blend. Merino wool is a premium wool, it’s the best quality wool and is super soft to touch.”

As Pippa herself says: “A 100 per cent merino wool sweater is something everyone should have in their wardrobe; they’re timeless and if you look after your knitwear you’ll have it to wear on repeat. For me, it’s all about quality and affordability so I think we’ve created something really special together.”

Knitwear, of course, is something which is so key to our wardrobes and it’s a staple that can be easily dressed up or down with some simple styling. Create texture and an edgy look with leather look jeans, dress it up with layered, statement jewellery pieces or layer it over more dressy skirts and chunky boots to give it a cool and cosy style. It really is so versatile. There are so many great pieces in this collection like the v-neck t-shirts with small heart detail or the fabulously luxe navy hoodie that are perfect for everyday wear and if you’re going to wear basics then they might as well have a touch of luxury to them.

One of my favourite pieces is the simple grey rollneck that I know I would wear all winter long, especially over my trusty slip skirts and layered over floral dresses but that would also dress up my straight leg denims.

Another piece I’m absolutely coveting for my autumn winter wardrobe is the lightning bolt sweater which comes in navy and white colourway which is a mix of both classic and quirky and would seamlessly fit into any wardrobe. I also am quite partial to the white and pink version but I think I’d personally get more wear out of the navy. There’s also a gorgeous off the shoulder knit which is giving me slouchy, sexy yet understated French fashion vibes. All in all, a trés chic collection.
