Over €200,000 worth of drugs seized recently
Over €200,000 worth of drugs were seized on Leeside recently during two separate searches.
Gardaí attached to the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit seized drugs with an estimated street value of €237,000 and arrested two men, during two separate search operations.
During the course of a search operation in a house last Thursday, gardaí seized approximately half a kilo of suspected heroin with an estimated street value of €70,000. A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and taken to Mayfield Garda Station where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
A second search was conducted by the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit, also last Thursday, in an industrial premises.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “During the course of this search, a quantity of heroin, Xanax tablets, ecstasy and cocaine with an estimated street value of €167,000 was seized. All drugs will now be sent for analysis.”
A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested during the second search operation and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Togher Garda Station. Both men have since appeared before the courts.
