Funeral for teenage crash victim
The funeral of teenager Tadgh Murphy who was killed in a single car collision in Glengarriff on Monday morning, will take place on Friday.
The 19-year-old from Glengarriff had been driving the car with three other passengers when it left the Kenmare Road and entered the Glengarriff river. Backseat passenger Michael Bowen was also killed in the collision. A 17-year-old male was taken to CUH with serious injuries but has since been reported to be in a stable condition.
A fourth male, 22, was uninjured and treated for shock. Mr Murphy’s funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday 7 August, in accordance with current HSE guidelines.
The funeral cortege will leave Harbour View at 11am and will arrive at Sacred Heart Church, Glengarriff, for Mr Murphy’s requiem mass, followed by burial in the local cemetery.
Mr Murphy is survived by his parents Teresa and Patrick and his sister Tracey.
Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the death of a 94-year-old woman who died from injuries sustained in a three car collision last Friday.
The incident occurred at approximately 4.30pm on the N25 from Youghal to Killeagh in Burgess, at a junction near a petrol station.
A man and woman, aged 46 and 27 respectively, were brought to CUH and have since been discharged.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the N25 at Burgess between 4pm and 4.30pm on 31 July, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision, to contact Midleton Garda Station on 021-4621550, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any Garda Station.
