Weapons seized in separate searches
Gardaí on Leeside seized several sharp weapons and knives in the past week in separate incidents.
On Monday morning, gardaí attached to the City Centre Policing Unit were on proactive beat patrol when they spoke to a man, aged in his 20s, at Kent Train Station.
A Garda spokesman confirmed to the newspaper: “The man was searched by gardaí and was found to be in possession of two kitchen knives and a small amount of suspected cannabis herb.
“The man was dealt with by gardaí at the scene but was not arrested.”
A file will now be prepared for the DPP.
Meanwhile, in a separate and unrelated incident, five weapons were found during the search of a house in the Mahon area last Friday morning (3 July).
During the course of the search gardaí from Blackrock and Anglesea Street garda stations seized a machete, two slash hooks and two improvised weapons. “No arrests have been made but gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry,” the spokesman added.
