Slew of jobs announced

There was good news for Cork jobseekers this morning with the announcement of 75 new jobs at two companies.

Data centre and air cooling systems manufacturer, EDPAC International, announced the creation of 50 jobs as the company also opened its newly extended manufacturing plant in Carrigaline.

EDPAC International will continue to operate from its sites in Newmarket and from Carrigaline, where more than 80 people are currently employed.  The company is actively recruiting a further 50 employees over the next 24 months, particularly design engineers, refrigeration technicians, plumbers, electricians as well as quality engineers and logistics personnel.

The EDPAC manufacturing site in Carrigaline is now over 5,000 square metres and equipped with state of the art facilities, including a new environmental test laboratory, dedicated factory witness test facility and a new canteen. The Newmarket facility supports the Carrigaline factory, providing prefabricated components and manufacturing high quality air handling systems to customer specifications.

The Irish owned company has an impressive client list, with installations at Doha Airport, Qatar’s Al Wakra Stadium, Hong Kong’s Metro, Bolivia’s Itaipu Dam, Copenhagen’s City Link Metro, the BBC in the UK, most hospitals in Ireland and Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the company’s home county.

Speaking at the official opening of the new extension this morning, An Tánaiste Simon Coveney said: “EDPAC International exemplifies all that makes Irish companies so successful around the globe; a high quality solution, innovative in design and execution combined with ambitious leadership and outstanding customer service to create a truly world class product.”

Meanwhile, recruiting and consulting company Oxford Global Resources announced that it will fill 25 new jobs this year, as part of the company’s celebration of 25 years at its European headquarters in Cork.

Oxford Vice President of European Operations Denis Carroll said: “In 1994, we started with four employees in Cork, today we have 129 and are still growing. We are excited to expand our team here further, which will lead to our goal of doubling our European business over the next five years. These new vital roles will match highly skilled and hard-to-find talent with the right projects for our valued clients worldwide.”

The new roles, mainly technical recruiters and account managers, are on track to be filled this year with a recruitment open evening planned for 15 April at its Penrose Quay office.
