Cliona’s really going places
A Ballincollig student has had a big win in a Bus Éireann school competition.
Cliona Riordan, who has just completed transition year in Coláiste Choilm, Ballincollig has been announced as the South regional and Overall National Winner of Bus Éireann’s Go Places competition this week.
As part of the competition, TY students were invited to submit projects – in words, photographs, or videos – about their journey to school.
As the operator of the School Transport Scheme, Bus Éireann transports more than 119,000 students on a daily basis to and from over 3,000 schools nationwide.
Cliona submitted a colourful video which contained an insight on how she and her friends travel to school and as the national overall winner, her class in Coláiste Choilm got to enjoy a day away from the classroom at Tayto Park.
Stephen Kent, CEO of Bus Éireann said: “Bus Éireann is proud to be transporting pupils to and from school as part of the School Transport Scheme for over 50 years. Cliona’s submission was not only a creative tale of her journey to school, but it was also very humorous – from showing homework being completed on the morning commute with Bus Éireann on school transport and concluded with an important message in a comical manner: ‘Bus Éireann for a brighter tomorrow’.”
