Jazz on the fringes of Cork
The Guinness Kinsale Jazz Fringe Festival has announced over 100 free gigs.
If you’re looking for a mix of jazz and coastal scenery over the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, then swing down to the picturesque seaside town.
The popular coastal town will serve up an extra helping of jazz over the weekend and play a perfect complement to the main festival in Cork city centre.
“There’s a fantastic line up in Kinsale over the weekend, all of which perfectly complement the events taking place in Cork city. We’re delighted to be able to bring so many free gigs to the vibrant pubs and hotels in Kinsale this year. I would encourage everyone to spend a few hours of the weekend in Kinsale if they have time!” said Guinness representative Una McCarthy.
Every bar and hotel in Kinsale will be in full swing with more than 100 gigs in more than 20 venues from noon until late each day. Acts confirmed for the weekend include Blues Brothers Banned, Billy Crosbie and Deirdre McCallum, Loose Change, and String Fellows.
Meanwhile, Cork’s new charity Air Ambulance has been announced as the official charity partner for this year’s festival. The partnership with Irish Community Rapid Response (ICRR) will include a major fundraising prize draw, with tickets sold during the festival.
ICRR pilot Captain John Murray said: “We are honoured to be associated with the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival which is a landmark event and brings thousands of people to Cork every year.”
