City set sites on new manger

The hunt for a new manger is on for City FC. The club confirmed yesterday, Wednesday, that it was beginning the recruitment process to find the longterm replacement for John Caulfield who departed the club in May.

Since then, John Cotter has been in charge of the side in an interim capacity, recently adding Frank Kelleher to his coaching ticket.

In a statement, Cork City FC said: “The club is inviting expressions of interest for the role no later than 5pm on Friday, 9 August 2019. Those expressing an interest must hold a valid UEFA Pro-Licence (or equivalent) or be currently participating in the UEFA Pro-Licence course.”

A list of desirable qualities for the future manager included relevant senior managerial experience in the SSE Airtricity League or in another Football Association, experience in the oversight, development and strategic planning of a football academy, comprehensive knowledge of the League of Ireland and local game, strong communication skills, business acumen and interpersonal skills, the ability to work within strict financial budgets as well as understanding of the supporter-owned football club model, volunteerism and the values of Cork City FC.

Since Caulfield’s departure, City have enjoyed a mixed spell of results, including a kncok-out loss in the Europa League last week, but now focus on the visit of Shamrock Rovers to Turner's Cross on Sunday.
