Social housing loans granted
Two housing associations are set to benefit after Cork City Council gave the green light for thousands of euro to be loaned to them.
It means that two more units can be used as social housing on Leeside.
Galtan CLG will be given a loan of €287,000 for a three-bedroom house at Pynes Valley in Ballyvolane while Focus Housing Association CLG is set to be given a €190,655 loan for the provision of a two-bedroom apartment in Camden Court, Knapps Square.
This was given the go ahead at the most recent Cork City Council meeting.
Head of Housing at City Hall, Brian Geaney, recommended that councillors agree to the loans.
He confirmed: “Cork City Council, under the delegated sanction provided through Circular: Housing 24/2015, has approved a funding application from Galtan CLG under the Capital Assistance Scheme for a loan not exceeding €287,000. Cork City Council has approved a funding application from Focus Housing Association CLG under the Capital Assistance Scheme for a loan not exceeding €190,655.
“The scheme involves the local authority advancing a loan to the voluntary bodies to cover costs in providing social housing accommodation.”
