30 jobs at tech centre
A global logistics company has announced that it is to open a new technology centre in Cork. It plans to recruit more than 30 technology professionals over the next three years.
C.H. Robinson says the new technology centre will further deliver personalised solutions for shippers and carriers with the industry’s premier technology built by and for supply chain experts.
It was the second major jobs announcement in Cork this week with Hidden Hearing announcing that it is to hire 150 new workers over five years.
The opening of the Cork office by C.H. Robinson follows a recent expansion of the company’s technology teams in Poland. C.H. Robinson’s technology solutions drive digital connectivity and sophisticated analytics that improve shipping performance for customers and carriers.
Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade & Employment Leo Varadkar said there is a strong talent pool in Cork to enable the company to grow.
“The Cork expansion is yet another commitment we are making to investing in our industry-technology as we look to further accelerate the pace of innovation and provide best-in-class technology and services to our customers and carriers,” said Mike Neill, chief technology officer at C.H. Robinson.
CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan said the announcement “demonstrates the confidence the company has in Cork and the strong pool of talent available in the south west”.
He continued: “C.H. Robinson’s arrival to Cork is a welcome addition to the established tech cluster in the south west and exemplifies IDA Ireland’s continued effort to win investment for regional locations.”
Hidden Hearing
Founded in Cork in 1997, Hidden Hearing invested €10m and hired 20 new staff in 2020 as well as opening five new clinics across the country.
The hearing healthcare provider this week announced plans to push ahead with a brand development and business expansion plan, despite the impact of Covid-19 in the past year.
Stephen Leddy, Managing Director of Hidden Hearing Ireland, said: “Twenty new staff joined the team at various levels in 2020, and recruitment is ongoing for new qualified hearing aid dispensers, clinic coordinators, office staff and marketing personnel. They will be involved in rebranding the operation and in major expansion of our clinic network in 2021 so that we can continue to make life changing differences to even more people.”
