It's a record-breaking start to the year for the Czech brand.

2019 sees Skoda break into the Irish top five

Skoda is reporting its best ever start to a year with record vehicle sales and revenue performance.

Against the backdrop of a declining market, Skoda has increased sales by 5.2 per cent to 5,329 vehicles. This is some achievement considering the new car market contracted by 10.7 per cent in the first quarter.

Skoda acquired 8.3 per cent share in the first three months, pushing the brand into the top five best-selling car brands in Ireland for the first time. The Octavia, Superb and the new Kodiaq SUV were the key models driving Skoda’s success.

John Donegan, Brand Director at Skoda Ireland commented: “The joke is over. Skoda has confirmed its place in the top five best-selling car brands and with the continued support of our dealer network we believe the best is yet to come.

“This May we will launch our new Scala hatchback, with the Kamiq compact SUV following in autumn. Also this autumn, our executive Superb will receive a cosmetic refresh and the option of plug-in hybrid technology will be offered in the Skoda brand for the first time. By the close of 2020 we will have an unrivalled offering of petrol, diesel, hybrid and fully electric products to offer our customers.”

Skoda also enjoyed strong financial performance. New car revenue increased by nine per cent from €68.5 million to €74.6 million and revenue from parts and accessories increased 13 per cent from €2.8 million to €3.2 million.

A growing number of consumers are also availing of competitive Skoda finance offers with Skoda confirming over €60.4 million was loaned in the first three months; an increase of 26 per cent on the same period last year.
