Sophie case active and ongoing
Gardaí have said an investigation into the death of Sophie Toscan du Plantier is active and ongoing as media focus intensifies.
It comes after the release of two new documentaries examining the murder that shook West Cork and all of Ireland almost 25 years ago.
The documentaries, made by Netflix and Sky, have brought renewed focus to the unsolved case both here and overseas with reports of new pieces of evidence coming to light in recent days. According to some reports, a cold case review may take place following the identification of a potential new suspect by a local shopkeeper.
Ian Bailey was found guilty in absentia in France in 2019 of the murder.
Meanwhile, the neighbours who found Ms du Plantier’s body in Toormore near Schull on 23 December 1996 are selling their home.
It is understood that the house, which is less than 100 yards from Ms du Plantier’s holiday home, will go on the market for €250,000.
