Train as a phlebotomist

Most of us have been there – your GP says they need a blood sample and a few minutes later you’re left with a sore arm that resembles a pincushion.

That’s why more and more healthcare institutions such as GP surgeries and hospitals are now employing phlebotomists.

Skilled phlebotomists are healthcare professionals who specialise solely in taking blood samples.

Recently, these specially trained experts have been gradually replacing nurses and doctors when it comes to taking blood samples from patients.

Healthcare training company Geopace Training has built a nationwide reputation for teaching phlebotomy with tutors travelling from across the country and even internationally to train students.

Each Geopace class lasts two days and at the end of the course students will have attained an accredited certificate in phlebotomy. Students need no prior experience in healthcare and often come from all walks of life and all ages.

Geopace provides a thorough grounding in both theory and practical elements and prepares students up to the point of live blood draws.

The training programme is constantly updated to keep up with new developments and changes, ensuring that students receive the most current training available. Students attending the course will gain valuable, hands-on experience, practicing on artificial arms with fake blood with a choice of veins to perform and practise on.

There is also a theory element to complete with no exams to worry about at the end. Once completed, the course awards a nationally recognised and accredited certificate in - accredited at Level 5 in Ireland.
