2 of 3 dogs stolen from shelter returned safely

A Cork animal shelter is relieved today after welcoming back 2 out of 3 dogs that were stolen from the premises on Tuesday night.

Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CSPCA), which is based in Mahon, said the 2 returned lurchers were unhurt but very tired and hungry.

The third dog, a 10 year old terrier named Margaret, is still missing and CSPCA is asking the public to remain vigilant and to contact the organisation or the gardaí with any information on her whereabouts. All 3 dogs are microchipped.

The dogs were taken at approximately 8.30pm on Tuesday night.

A post on CSPCA’s Facebook page read: “Look who is back. We are thrilled and relieved beyond belief to have 2 out of the 3 dogs that were stolen back.

“We would like to thank you all for sharing and being so supportive over the last 24 hours, we really appreciate everyone's help. We also would like to thank An Garda Síochána for their support and assistance since our first phone call to them yesterday morning. Please continue to keep look out for Margaret the terrier.”

A Facebook post published today read: “If you know anything or hear anything, please come forward and contact CSPCA or the guards. Weather was shocking that night, did you see anything in area or out driving or have dash cam that can check for around 8.30/9pm that night. Keep sharing report anything no matter how small!”

The CSPCA is a non-profit organisation set up in 1870 to protect the animals of Cork.
