Cork’s Red FM acquired by Today FM owner
Cork’s Red FM has been bought by one of the biggest media companies in Ireland, Bauer Media Audio.
Last week the owner of Newstalk and TodayFM radio stations entered a deal to acquire one of the country's most popular regional stations although the acquisition is subject to regulatory approval.
Bauer Media Audio, which includes Bauer Media Audio Ireland is Ireland’s largest commercial radio and audio group. With the addition of Red FM, Bauer Media Audio Ireland said it now extends its total weekly reach to almost 1.9 million listeners.
Red FM is Cork’s most popular radio station, with more than 129,000 listeners tuning in every day to shows such as ‘The Neil Prendeville Show’ and ‘Dave Mac’s Drive’.
Bauer Media Audio said it is “committed to ensuring that Red FM continues to grow and develop, providing investment and innovation to create an even better listener experience for the people of Cork, and allowing Red FM to continue providing the music, entertainment and great local news and information that listeners value”.
