A glamourous launch ahead of the festive season
Mr Leamy said: “These results were achieved in spite of unprecedented educational challenges young people faced over the past 2 years.
“We would also like to pay tribute to all of the teachers and parents of our Junior Certificate students who worked tirelessly to ensure that student’s educational development remained the highest priority at all times.
“These results today demonstrate the determination and diligence of our young students. The future is bright for education in Cork.”
Until 2019, only English, science and business studies had been examined under the reformed Junior Cycle curriculum. Apart from Irish, English and mathematics which are examined at higher and ordinary level, all other Junior Cycle subjects are now examined at common level.
Commenting on the results, Minister for Education Norma Foley sent a “heartfelt thanks” to pupils, families and teachers.
She said: “Throughout your school life, each of you will have learned so much and will have developed a myriad of talents, skills and ambitions that will pave the way as you embark on the next stage of your education journey.
“I want to congratulate each and every one of you again on reaching this major milestone in your life and best wishes for your next steps.
“To your parents and families, your school communities and teachers, I know what it is like to support students through state examinations and I know your commitment and support has helped these students to reach this point today.”
It was attended by some of the most stylish people in Cork. The people spotting was amazing, and I left the event craving more fabulous events. I’m already a big fan of the Luna by Lisa make up and my absolute go to red lipstick is the Ruby Rose one. I wear it for absolutely everything and it really doesn’t budge.
The dress code was glam and we were greeted in the mirror room of the hotel with prosecco and delicious cocktails and treated to the most divine meal. It was so lovely to get dressed up on a Thursday night and be totally spoilt and I was pulling apart the wardrobe all week wondering what to wear.
Needless to say, I went through a few options from a lurex rainbow coloured slim fit dress from Never Fully Dressed which I loved but slightly felt too much of a summer vibe to a vintage 2 piece suit in orange herringbone that I love but actually needs a bit of altering to make it a tad more fitted.
I eventually settled on a dress I bought many moons ago in Silk Peaches I had forgotten about in a wardrobe in my parent’s house. Is there any better feeling than shopping your wardrobe and finding a forgotten gem?
It had a high neck and a vintage style scarf print with long sleeve and midi length. The dress didn’t need much in the way of accessories, so I styled it with translucent white statement earrings and a simple heel. I also wore my trusty white beaded bag from the 1960s but the poor bag is on its last legs having served me well for many years. If anyone knows how I can fix a beaded vintage bag, then please let me know.
The host herself, the fabulous Lisa Jordan looked sensational in a pewter coloured dress and a navy embellished cape from Phoenix V. I cannot describe how beautiful the cape was and I of course was insanely jealous and now need a velvet embellished cape in my life. The Holiday Collection is sure to make you sparkle and shine this festive season and comprises of eight limited edition sets. I’m pretty basic when it comes to doing my own make up so anything that comes in an easy, paint by numbers sort of kit is perfect for me.
Enter the Eye Jewels Set which gives the effect of bigger, brighter looking eyes with velvety rich textures. I adore the Everyday Gems eyeshadow quad and the gold cream shadow pot in shade Diamond Kiss adds beautiful shimmer perfect for the party season.
Top it all off with the Volume Mascara and you’ve got an eye look that’s easy to achieve with a professional feel.
If there’s one item you need to include in this year’s Christmas stocking it’s the Pout and Go lip set which includes a liner, lipgloss and lipstick which is in a gold charm holder. It’s so cute and the perfect addition to your handbag this Christmas and beyond.
