A host of local businesses attended the annual luncheon on Thursday 15 December.
The Ballincollig Business Association (BBA) was formed in 2009 to give the businesses of Ballincollig a forum to discuss issues affecting their businesses and to give a voice for its members to resolve those issues, led by its Chairperson Emer Cassidy.
The BBA has given a say to Ballincollig business people on infrastructural developments, local taxation and rates issues and promotional efforts for Ballincollig.
They are a voluntary organisation and one of the BBA's main goals was to assist in the the development of The Crann Centre.
Crann is a pioneering Irish charity based in county Cork, providing life-long solutions for people and families living with neuro-physical disabilities. The Crann model of care is a 2 generation approach which supports both the person with neuro-physical disability and their family.
Their expert team of nurses, occupational therapists, play therapists, counsellors, paediatricians and reflexologists deliver support services in health and continence, psychological wellbeing, mobility, education and career pathways, social capital, and independent living.
Neuro-physical disabilities include spina bifida, hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, osteogenesis imperfecta, arthrogryposis, spinal muscular atrophy, spinal cord injury, stroke and MS.
In 2022 Crann reached 326 families registered for services, an increase of 134 on last year and they delivered over 3,129 individual sessions. Crann also provided a continence training programme for SNAs, the only of its kind in Ireland to over 100 SNA professionals.
Crann opened Ireland’s first and only fully accessible playground, conservation area and an accessible co-working hub helping to make society more inclusive.
