Designed to make an impression
Now you know I like a little bit of sartorial drama, a wild print, a statement shoulder or an interesting silhouette.
The new H&M Studio SS23 collection certainly has that in spades!
The collection has it all with blazing colour and high energy silhouettes and where elevated essentials meet extraordinary eveningwear.
Designed to make an impression while strutting the streets or scrolling social media, the collection takes inspiration from Hollywood’s Golden Age goddesses and modern-day megastars who extend a ‘go big or go home’ attitude to every aspect of their multi-faceted lives.
With wardrobe pieces engineered for a generation of icons for whom ‘off-duty’ still counts as a street-style opportunity, the collection blends raw wearability and radical glamour.
Think extrovert eveningwear and trophy outerwear mixed in with attitudinal accessories, with a concise capsule of outré menswear to complete the line-up.
Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Adviser at H&M, said: “This collection offers an approachable take on glamour that can be dialed up or down, offering everything from a voluminous red carpet ready gown to a timeless leather jacket that can be worn in a multitude of ways and for years to come.”
The collection is an interesting mix of pieces that feel dramatic, but which can be worn easily in your day-to-day life. It almost reminds me of a celeb off duty in LA casual vibes but still with a fashion focus and looking incredibly cool.
These are pieces that you want to have in your wardrobe and that you can throw on when you want to look effortlessly stylish. The denim and leather pieces are some of my favourite looks especially an oversized, distressed brown leather motorcycle jacket that is a wardrobe investment that you’ll have for years to come and I love the contrast between this and the bright blue looks.
Another item I am obsessed with is the denim bustier dress which looks just fabulous and is a without a doubt a real statement piece. Could any collection be complete without fashion forward sweats and here we size oversized proportions which are serving us comfort, elegance and all with minimal effort? It says I just woke up like this and yet here I am being oh so cool!
The prints used for this collection are extremely eye catching and as print designer Moa Bartling said: “This seasons prints have a tongue in cheek impulse for drama. The headline print is based on a manipulated photograph of theatre curtains, investigating the idea of ‘performance‘ in everyday life and the difference between a star’s on stage persona and their backstage behaviour when the curtain goes down.”
The 2nd print is super fun and is a solarized pair of glossy movie star lips. These prints look fabulous worn together like the brown theatre curtain print jacket and trousers to really make a statement, but each piece could be taken and worn separately.
The trousers with the wardrobe essential trench would be a great look worn casually or the jacket paired with cream pleat trousers and a boot. It’s up to you how much main character energy you want to bring.
Stunning accessories such as black leather boots, giant sunglasses and statement earrings bring an edginess and complete the collection to perfection.
