Colour clash!
As a stylist, I love to work on a shoot where you can get really creative and where the brief calls for vibrant colour and pattern clashes.
So, of course I was absolutely delighted to style the campaign for the Luna Professional Haircare range.
A collaboration between the esteemed Irish beauty influencer Lisa Jordan and renowned haircare distributor Kieran Walsh, the beloved Luna Haircare range as you know it has evolved, rebranding not only with a new look, but an enhanced formulation too and it’s giving affordable luxury for your precious locks.
Created to be as kind to your hair as it is to the environment, every formula is vegan, cruelty-free and paraben-free and includes a unique blend of natural and synthetic ingredients that powerfully yet gently target your specific hair concerns.
Revolutionary plex technology is built into every product, cushioning your hair against chemical damage and protecting it against frizz. Enriched with amino acids, plex technology builds hair strength, reinforces hair bonds, and strengthens your hair’s natural defences. The result? Beautiful healthy hair that looks great every day – even if you perm, bleach, highlight or colour.
The products include such hero ingredients as lavender herb oil and evening primrose oil and smell delicious. I’ve used the detox shampoo which leaves the hair light and super cleansed and I’ve also used the volume range and my hair felt moisturised and bouncy.
I love working with colour and print especially when you can play around with clashing print and putting together vibrant colours that make a big statement. It’s also a look you can easily incorporate into your own wardrobe and while it can seem a little daunting there are some easy ways to achieve a colour or pattern clash for yourself.
Firstly, and one which requires very little thought on your part, is to find the perfect item that already features a colour clash. There are lots of sheer, column dresses around at the moment with bright and fun colours so just pick the right shade for you and away you go.
Get bonus style points layering even more colour with an earring and shoes. Just stick to similar hues and shades.
Suiting is another great way to play around with colour and while it can look great just worn as a block colour on its own, you can also use accessories to add another element to the look. A blue suit is given a whole new lease of life with the addition of orange accessories or a silver metallic. If you want to add some print then use a printed roll neck to give an edgy look.
Check out Marlene and Co which is an online boutique for quirky and colourful sheer rollnecks with everything from flirty florals to graphic orange and purple striped print. They also work particularly well under dresses if you want to add another layer which works especially well this time of the year.
Separates are also a great and easy way to try out a clash. Take a check print jacket or blazer where the colours are already clashed.
Yes, a lot of the time check print is in quite traditional colours but I have spotted some with shades of pink and red or blue and white.
Then all you need is to pick out some trousers in one of the colours and you’ve got a great outfit that looks perfectly polished.
One item I think is a must have when styling colour is a neck scarf and even the most basic outfit can be elevated with a colourful neckerchief and it’s worth checking out online all the different ways you can tie your silky scarves!
