A bowl lotta love for Gaza

Leesiders have been invited to come together to craft ceramic bowls which will be used at a peace soup event to raise funds for Gaza.

Led by Irish fine art sculptor and ceramicist, Martha Cashman, clay bowl workshops will be held on 3 and 10 March at Nano Nagle Place.

“Empty bowls are a symbol of need and hunger, yet are also hopeful and beautiful,” said Ms Cashman.

“We are inviting people to come together in Cork to create clay bowls in solidarity with the people of Gaza, who are suffering so terribly at the moment,” she added.

Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement by artists and craftspeople around the world to help feed and support those in need. The Cork Empty Bowls Project will culminate in a Peace Soup event in April, with funds being raised for Médicins Sans Frontières in Gaza.

The first two workshops will take place at Nano Nagle Place on 3 March at 11.30am and 2.30pm, with further workshops on glazing and decorating the bowls on 10 March at the same times. Following the first workshops on 3 March, the bowls will be fired in The National Sculpture Factory.

The workshops welcome donations of €25 or more to register and to create an empty bowl. Places are limited so early booking is recommended.
