Memorabilia madness takes hold

A family fun day taking place this weekend has been organised by a loving father in aid of the Cope Foundation, which has supported his three year old daughter since she was a baby.

Peter Geary said he wants to give back to the organisation’s Children Disability Network Team (CDNT) in Midleton for their support of his daughter Paige since she was seven months old.

Peter said: “As part of Memorabilia Madness in aid of Cope Foundation, we have one hundred fantastic prizes up for grabs. These include signed jerseys from athletes around Ireland and beyond and lots of amazing prizes donated by local businesses in Youghal.”

There will be a bumper raffle during the day, with more than 100 prizes on offer including signed sports memorabilia collected by Peter.

Prizes include a signed jerseys from the Irish soccer team, Muster Rugby, Jake O’Brien of Lyon and various GAA county teams, as well as signed boxing gloves from Spike O’Sullivan and Steve Collins. Tickets for a Manchester United match and a Munster vs All Blacks match will also be in the mix.

Peter added: “Please support this amazing raffle for an amazing cause.”

Led by the Cope Foundation, the Midleton CDNT and two others across Cork provide direct supports and interventions to children and young people with complex disabilities, and their families.

There are currently more than 1,184 children and young people receiving or waiting for support from the three CDNTs.

Caoimhe Dillon, the Cope Foundation’s CDN manager for East Cork, thanked Peter and his family for their efforts. “Funds raised will support the purchasing of vital equipment and resources to ensure our work can empower and enable children, young people and their families, long into the future.”

Tickets are on sale for €5, and are available to purchase at local businesses in Youghal. The celebrations are expected to continue into the evening, with entertainment planned in Hennessy’s Bar, Youghal.
