Gardaí renew appeal for missing man John Keaveney one year on
This week marked one year since John Keaveney was reported missing with posters looking for information still dotted around Cork city.
Gardaí on Tuesday renewed their appeal to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of the 43 year old John Keaveney who went missing from the McCurtain Street area of Cork city between midnight and 12.30am on Monday 21 August 2023.
John is described as being approximately 5 foot 9 inches in height with a slim build.
He is bald and has brown eyes.
The last sighting of John was walking down toward Centre Park Road/Marina area of Cork city.
He was wearing a pair of navy trousers, a grey Umbro hoodie with the Irish soccer logo and white runners.
Gardaí and John's family are very concerned for his welfare.
John, who lives in the Drumcondra area of Dublin, was taking a holiday break at Castlemartyr with his wife Adrienne and three daughters at the time of his disappearance.
On Friday 18 August 2023, John was admitted to Cork University Hospital, suffering from epilepsy.
He subsequently discharged himself on Sunday 20 August and may have presented somewhat disorientated.
In September 2023, ‘Crimecall’ interviewed John’s uncle Cathal who spoke emotionally about him and the upset felt by his wife Adrienne and family. Cathal thanked everyone for their continued support and assistance so far with the search effort to locate John.
During this episode of ‘Crimecall’, viewers were asked if they have discovered clothing similar to those worn by John or if they saw or spoke to John in the Cork city area on 20 or 21 August. They were also asked if they have found an black iPhone SE similar to the one John owned.
Searches have been ongoing since John’s was reported missing. This has included an extensive investigation across Cork city, on both land and water, concentrating at the marina and Páirc Uí Chaoimh areas.
Various groups have continued to look for John including Mallow Search and Rescue, the Cork Missing Persons Group, as well as the garda air support and water units
Gardaí at Anglesea street have worked extensively with their colleagues throughout the city and have tracked John’s movements establishing the final confirmed sighting to be at the Marina filling station roundabout on Centre Park Road at 1.19am. Gardaí believe John may have continued out the Centre Park Road in the direction of Pairc Ui Chaoimh and Marina Commercial Park at about 1.45am.
CCTV at these locations have captured a person walking away from the city.
