Community input ‘vital’

The public has been asked to give their views on the proposed Cork to Kinsale Greenway.

This is the second public consultation on the project which is being held in person and online through the project website and is now open for submissions.

There will be two in-person public consultation events, one at The Viaduct, Old Bandon Road, Cork on Tuesday 17 September and one at Acton’s, Kinsale on Wednesday 18 September.

Five route corridor options and two links for the proposed greenway have been developed following a public consultation in February and the completion of Phase 1, concept and feasibility stage.

Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Joe Carroll said: “This is a significant project that aims to provide a sustainable, accessible, safe and attractive greenway for locals and visitors to travel between two important tourist locations. I am encouraging members of the public to have their say, to view the maps and to engage with the team behind this project. It is vital that we have community input at every stage.”

The public consultation is now open online at corkkinsalegreenway.ie and will be available until Sunday 13 October. Alternatively, submissions can be made by post to Greenways, Cork National Roads Office, Richmond, Glanmire, Cork, T45 WA44.
