Event addresses gender disparity in Cork arts scene
A new collective focused on platforming women and marginalised individuals in the performing arts and creative scene in Cork city will launch tonight.
The collective, called Women In Trade We Trust, addresses the need for greater gender representation in the creative realm, providing visibility for performers, DJs, musicians, photographers, and artists.
The first edition of the initiative takes place this evening, Thursday 21 November, in The Pavilion in Cork city centre, with performances from HANNAHBELLA, Ezra Williams, and a DJ set from Temperance.
The performances will also be supported by visuals created by local artists.
Acclaimed Cork musician HANNAHBELLA (aka Hannah Thornton) is one of the founders of the collective.
Since embarking on her musical journey in 2021, Hannah has emerged as a beacon of genre-defying artistry, captivates listeners with her unique blend of glitchy, hyper-pop and alt-rock bravado.
Known for her dazzling and dynamic live performances, Hannah has supported elebrated acts such as Baby Queen, Essiray, and The Cliffords.
Currently, Hannah is weaving her latest ambitious and expansive project, a melodious dreamscape that promises to elevate her sonic journey to new heights as she steps boldly into a more mature sound, ready to enchant the world once again.
The first edition of Women In Trade We Trust starts at 9pm this evening at The Pavilion.
Tickets are available from Eventbrite.ie and cost €10 plus booking fee.
To thank everyone who comes to celebrate the first event, the first 100 guests will receive a complimentary shot of Jägermeister.
