City set for laughter
Cork City FC will host an unmissable night of comedy featuring some of the country’s top comedians this month.
‘City 'Til I Die…Laughing’ will take place in The Everyman, Cork at 8pm on 16 January with all proceeds from ticket sales going towards the club’s women’s and academy teams.
The night will be hosted by Cork comedian, writer and actor, Ross Browne who will be joined by Bernard Casey, Enya Martin, Al Porter, and Willa White. It’s the second time Cork City FC has organised a comedy night.
There are currently four academy boys teams and two girls teams at the club competing in the League of Ireland Academy leagues. The six squads include highly committed players from all over Munster who travel for training and matches every week.
The goal of the academy is to give every player the opportunity to achieve their potential, whether that is playing at national level with the club, at international level for their country, or beyond.
The academy also invests a lot of time and skills into building resilience within each of the players and supporting their mental health and wellbeing.
Anthony O’Sullivan, Commercial Director at Cork City FC, said: “The women’s team and the academy are doing well with interest increasing all the time. We have seen an increase in interest from young girls in particular who want to play football and it’s important for us to be able to support them and continue their development.
“So, events like this comedy night are crucial to the club.
“We really enjoyed the last comedy night back in October, so we’ve decided to do it again in January. We’re excited about the line-up on the night, and I would like to thank Ross and all the other comedians for supporting us in this special fundraiser,” he added.
