Cooking event raises funds for Brú Columbanus

A special festive cooking demo featuring a Cork chef has raised substantial funds for a charity in Wilton that provides beds for the relatives of seriously ill patients.

Brú Columbanus was the beneficiary of the Brehon Hotel & Spa’s Brehon for Brú event, a festive celebration that combined culinary expertise, wine wisdom, and community spirit to raise money for charity.

The event featured an exclusive cooking demonstration by Michelin-starred Chef Rob Krawczyk of Restaurant Chestnut in West Cork and The Brehon’s own Executive Chef Chad Byrne. The chefs delighted attendees with creative festive dishes, providing inspiration for holiday cooking at its finest.

The event was beautifully orchestrated with Karen Coakley of Kenmare Foodies as the MC, who kept the audience engaged and entertained. Wine expert KD Evans from The Wine Buff Killarney shared his expertise with invaluable tips and tricks for selecting festive wines, enhancing the season’s celebrations. KD also generously donated 10% of all wine sales on the day to Brú Columbanus, further supporting the cause.

Adding to the festive cheer, The Brehon hosted a raffle in aid of Brú Columbanus, which raised over €1,200, contributing to the event's total donation.

Following the event, The Brehon team had the privilege of visiting Brú Columbanus to present the funds raised. They were warmly greeted by Ann-Maria and Steve, two incredible individuals who, alongside their colleagues and countless volunteers, provide invaluable support to families of patients in Cork hospitals and hospices.

During the visit, the team was given a tour of the Brú Columbanus facility, gaining insight into the vital role it plays in offering a home away from home during difficult times.
