SVP car draw winner picked

Drum roll please, as the winner of SVP’s Annual car draw has been announced.

Séan Kennedy Jr from Carrigaline won first place in the draw which took place in the Cork City Ford showrooms, Forge Hill, where the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Dan Boyle picked the lucky winner. This year’s prize was a new Ford Focus car. The draw generated an amazing €251,181 which will be used to assist those in need throughout the winter months ahead.

There were six other lucky winners of cash prizes including the Bishops’ Prize of €1,500 which was supported by the Bishop of Cork & Ross, Bishop of Kerry and Bishop of Cloyne. The prize was won by Ger Conroy. The other winners were Maria McGeever, Marian Creedon, Gemma Robins, Breid McCole and Alan Mc Cormack.

Speaking at the handover of the car, Mary Frances Behan, South West Regional President, said she was most grateful for the generosity of the Cork and Kerry public for their support of the annual car draw which is now in its 24th year, and said the funds would help offer a lifeline to struggling families and individuals in the region.

She added: “A special word of sincere thanks to our Car Draw Ambassador Francis Brennan and to our suppliers and sponsors throughout 2024, due to their generosity, we have raised a staggering €251,181 this year.

“As we wish the lucky winner safe driving and close off our 2024 Car Draw, do watch out for our 2025 Annual Car Draw later in the year where another beautiful car awaits another lucky winner with many cash prizes.”

SVP was founded in Ireland in 1844 and is the largest voluntary charitable organisation in Ireland.

At the launch of the 2024 draw, SVP South-West warned that exorbitant food and fuel costs were pushing struggling families and individuals to the brink of despair as calls for assistance skyrocketed.
