Cian Ducrot: ‘This is just a dream I had’

Cork song master Cian Ducrot has said he “cannot believe” he has won a Grammy for co-writing American artist SZA’s global hit track ‘Saturn’.

The Passage West native bagged his first Grammy at the 2025 ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday for his part in creating of the song which was named Best R&B Song at the awards.

“I cannot believe it I won my first Grammy!!” the Cork star wrote on social media.

The 27 year old songwriter thanked SZA for asking him to be part of the project and said she was “the best to ever do it”.

“I’m honoured to have collected this award alongside you. Never stop dreaming guys! Anything is possible. I’m shook; I don’t have the words to be honest. This is just a dream I had and yesterday I lived it. I am so blessed and grateful,” wrote Ducrot.

After his win, Ducrot celebrated in style with superstar Bruno Mars and said he is looking forward to performing at the Marquee in Cork this summer.

“To have received my first Grammy award as a songwriter is like the most incredible thing ever really – to be recognised for that skill is huge for me,” he told Cork 96FM’s ‘The Opinion Line with PJ Coogan’.

Ducrot’s former teacher at St Peter's Community School in Passage West, Cork City Councillor Una McCarthy said she remembers him as a “lively, outgoing student with a true passion for music”.

Cllr McCarthy said: “When he performed at our school talent show at such a young age, it was clear he was destined for great things. I’m sure I speak for everyone in the school and in Passage West when I say how incredibly proud we all are of his success.”
