Ag imirt peile i gCiarraí!
Two Cork teams are heading for Kerry later this month to compete in a Gaelic football tournament.
Carrigaline senior men’s team will compete in the Dermot Earley Senior Men’s Cup while Glengarriff play in the Junior Men’s Cup at the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé 2025, the famed club ladies and men’s tournament, taking place all across the Dingle Peninsula from 21-23 February.
Carrigaline are in the four-team straight knock-out senior men’s cup semi-final against Ballyroan Abbey of Laois. Should they progress, they will ply the final against either Listowel Emmets of Kerry or Mayobridge of Down.
Glengarriff are up against Tipperary’s Cahir, club of Johnny B of ‘The Two Johnnies’ comedy duo, in the straight semi-final of the junior men’s cup. If they win that, they play either St Patrick’s of Limerick city or Athgarvan of Kildare.
14 counties from the four provinces of Ireland will take part in the 36th edition of the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé, with 28 adult mens and ladies club teams coming for a weekend of competitive football and social events including popular Irish band Super Céilí at Páidí Ó Sé’s pub in Ventry, West Kerry.
Comórtas Chairman, Pádraig Óg Ó Sé said: “We welcome Carrigaline to West Kerry for the Comórtas. About 500 players and also mentors and supporters are in full planning mode to kick off their season with a weekend away and we are ready with social events and craic around Comórtas HQ Páidí Ó Sé’s pub and of course football lovers can also expect some great competitive matches over the weekend.”
