Addiction centre is ‘more than just a building’
A new drugs and alcohol addiction treatment centre has been opened in Midleton to serve the East Cork region.
Last Friday, Cork Kerry Community Healthcare and Coolmine Therapeutic Community (TC), in collaboration with the Southern Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force, officially opened the doors to its new East Cork Hub in Midleton town.
The new hub offers state-of-the-art amenities, a welcoming atmosphere, and spacious group rooms to inspire hope and connection.
With these resources, the Coolmine TC team will provide frequent one-on-one and group support sessions, with an aim to help clients build a strong foundation for lasting change.
David Lane, General Manager, Social Inclusion, Cork Kerry Community Healthcare and HSE Drug and Alcohol Services Coordinator, said: “This new facility in Midleton is more than just a building – It’s a lifeline for countless families in the area.”
The eagerly anticipated development strengthens the region’s mission to provide compassionate, community-based support for individuals on their path to recovery from addiction.
The opening was officiated by Minister of State for Community Development and Charities, Jerry Buttimer TD, who spoke of the importance of local recovery services in fostering inclusion and social support.
Mr Buttimer said: “Addiction recovery services play a critical role in strengthening communities, offering a lifeline to individuals and families in need.
“By providing people with the opportunity to rebuild their lives, facilities like this contribute to a more inclusive and supportive society,” he added.
