Connecting businesses with green grants
A free, easy-to-use online tool has been hailed as a significant step forward for businesses who want to access funding to reduce their energy costs and enhance sustainability.
The REEValue.eu platform has now launched and is aimed at businesses of all sizes and industries, with a particular focus on SMEs with high energy consumption in the food and beverage manufacturing, transport and logistics sectors.
Dr Alicia Mateos-Cárdenas, the REEValue and Sustainability lead at Cork Chamber added: “The REEValue platform is designed to empower businesses with the insights and resources they need to transition towards more sustainable operations. By combining data-driven recommendations with financial support options, we are helping businesses take meaningful steps toward reducing their energy consumption and carbon footprint.”
The platform includes a quick online self-assessment that takes under 15 minutes and provides tailored carbon footprints and energy-saving recommendations based on each business's specific needs. It draws from a database of over 500 energy audit recommendations in nine key energy-related categories, such as lighting, refrigeration or fleet management.
It then connects businesses with the many green grants available to support sustainability investments.
In Ireland, Cork Chamber has led the platform's development, ensuring it meets the needs of Irish companies nationwide.
Conor Healy, CEO of Cork Chamber said: “In today’s economic climate, reducing energy costs is crucial for competitiveness and this free tool offers businesses the insights and resources they need to take action.
“At Cork Chamber, we are committed to driving sustainable business solutions and REEValue is a prime example of how collaboration and innovation can deliver real impact,” he said.
The tool was developed as part of the EU co-funded LIFE REEValue project in collaboration with international experts across Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta and Portugal.
