Surf's up as MTU make waves
A group of college students made waves at a recent surfing event bringing home 17 medals and a cup!
Munster Technological University’s (MTU) Surf Club claimed a major victory at the Irish College Surf Intervarsities hosted by ATU Sligo on Strandhill Beach recently.
The committed MTU students competed against some of the country’s top collegiate surfers, clinching nine novice categories and placing in the remaining events, leading to an overall team win.
The Surf Club returned to MTU with an impressive 17 medals and a cup, which illustrated the team's dedication to training over the past months to prepare.
Commenting on the achievement, MTU Surf Club Chairperson, Kate Morrissey, said: “This victory is a direct result of our members’ hard work since September, combined with incredible team spirit. Everyone pulled together to make the weekend a success.”
Adding to Kate Morrisey’s sentiments, MTU Sports Office, Norma Buckley, shared: “The success of the MTU Surf Club at their Intervarsities last weekend is a true testament to the hard work, dedication and passion of all our club members, who have been training since early September. We’re very proud of the club and their achievements - MTUABÚ!”
