Thank you Derry much
Mark your calendars as Cork City FC’s first away game to be screened at The Arc Cinema will be on 4 April.
The game against Derry City will be on the big screen in what’s been described as a first of its kinds deal for a League of Ireland club. The club recently announced the new partnership with the Cork city centre cinema, which includes an opportunity to show some of the away games live on the big screen during the 2025 season.
The second game to be screened will be against Sligo Rovers on Friday 26 April. Both screenings will be family-friendly events and no alcohol will be allowed. The agreement also means there will be a 30-second Cork City FC trailer before every movie at The Arc Cinema on North Main Street.
Anthony O’Sullivan, Commercial Manager of Cork City FC, said: “There has been a really positive reaction from our supporters since we announced that some of the away games will be shown on the big screen in a family-friendly atmosphere. It means that supporters, particularly those with young families, can be part of the action for those games that are not always possible to attend.
“This partnership with The Arc Cinema is a first for any League of Ireland football team and we are delighted to be able to offer something different to our supporters who have been turning out in their thousands at Turner’s Cross since the season kicked off.”
Robert Corr, General Manager at The Arc Cinema said: “We are very excited about showing these two away games at the cinema next month. We know that supporters of Cork City FC are extremely dedicated but sometimes the distance means they can’t get to see the live action along with a crowd. They will be able to experience the away games in the most immersive way possible due to The Arc Cinema’s cutting-edge facilities which include a giant curved screen and Dolby Atmos surround sound and we are looking forward to a great atmosphere.”
